International Relations

About the working group

Established under U.S. leadership after World War II, the global liberal world order was thought to prevail worldwide after the end of the Cold War. Today it is in a state of fundamental crisis. And just a few years ago, the so-called “revisionists” in the system – i.e., states that demanded more influence due to their increased economic power – were seen as the greatest threat to the global liberal world order. Ever since the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States, however, it has become increasingly clear to observers that the liberal world order is called into question from its very centre. At any rate, it is not yet clear in which direction the system of international relations will develop.

The International Relations working group strives to establish an interdisciplinary network for research into the peaceful change of international orders.
